Deltec APF600 Protein Skimmer

After owning the AP600 for 2wks I figured that I better upgrade to a bigger skimmer if I was going to be upgrading tanks anytiime soon.  The AP600 was a great skimmer for the 58gal but the wife and I were talking about doing a 125+ for the next tank (hope 2-3yrs).  The APF600 would be a better fit on that system so I upgraded while I could get a good used price out of my AP600

The APF600 is rated at - Normal Stocking: 270g or Heavy Stocking: 200g.

I received the skimmer took the AP600 offline and got the APF600 all unpacked and fired it up ASAP.

After having my water level too low and messing w/ my it I finally got it right this is the fittings I used.  1/2" S x 3/4" S reducer into a 3/4" S x 3/4" FPT.  Then into a 3/4" MPT x 5/8" hose barb. 5/8" is better then 1/2"ID hose.  This was perfect and my water level is where it should be...right below the bayonet fitting.  My exit piping was gurgling and giving me heck also so I replaced it w/ some 1.5" PVC parts and now it is more "free flow" w/ no gurgles or troubles. (right pic)

This is after the skimmer was all broken in 2months later.  This is the cup after 4 days

If you ever need a o-ring replacement for one of the pump Unions or the inlet union use this from you local hardware store

Skimmate in July (4months after getting skimmer).  This is after 5 or 6 days.  NASTY!!!
