Deltec AP600 Protein Skimmer

I have heard the hype time and time again on Reef Central and me being an equipment freak I decided to get a Deltec protein skimmer.  I talked with Doug quite a few times online and on the phone before deciding on the AP600.  Doug was more then helpful and offered the best customer service that I have ever received from an reef related company.

The AP600 is rated at - Normal Stocking: 200g or Heavy Stocking: 130g.  The size is very comparable to the Euro-Reef RC80 so I figured I could "test" them out against each other.

After a little trouble with clearing customs in NYC it shipped out and I received it on March 11, 2006.  Got it all unpacked and fired it up ASAP.

All set up in its new home...my 10gal sump.  This is just after firing it up.

This is the skimmer after 12hrs.  I need to raise the water level in the skimmer up a touch.  Thanks to Doug and Marvin (from Atlantic Aquariums) for all your help getting the levels set up right.  I think have it down now.

This is the skimmer after 48hrs and raising the water level to where it needed to be

My 1st dump of skimmate.  This is day 4 after start up.  Still breaking in.

Day 5 of break in.  24hrs after cup cleaning!

Day 6 of break in - 48hrs after cleaning the cup!!!!

After 2wks I decided to upgrade to the "big brother" of the AP series the APF600.

Check out the page for the APF600!
