1969 Torino GT
Page dedicated to the restoration of my Uncle's 1969 Torino GT. This car was origianlly bought by my grandfather for my dads graduation present. After about 4-5yrs my dad sold it to my Uncle. He drove it and took it to college where one day he had the rims stolen off of it. He brought it home to my grandparents where it was stored in thier machine shed for probably 25+ years! It has been driven by my grandpa about 3-5 times per year and was taken to the shop to get the oil changed and such.
October 15th, 2005 I brought this car home to my town. My Uncle and I have a deal that if I found the people to restore it he would pay for it. Well, I have a great friend that has worked on cars since he was a boy. Problem number one! the drivers side was damaged in a wreck and a non-original door was placed on the car. Sad thing is that the original trim tag is LONG GONE! It was on the original door...so all I have is the non-original door's trim tag. I am have been doing some research on where/how to decode the VIN code and stumbled across a lot of great info (see links posted below). With my searching I found that a company called Marti Auto Works has access to Fords records and can give me a sheet w/ all the codes, what they mean, what options were on the car, when it was made, where it was bought, etc. I will be getting on ASAP!
10/22/05 - I received my deluxe report and trim tag from Marti Auto Works and now I have the trim codes. Marti Auto Works produces a very nice report and now I have the paint code, trim, interior color, etc. It will be nice to have the trim tag to put on the car and thus it will have the actual codes on the car again instead of the wrong door's codes.
